Demo Corner

 Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Demo corner! I am Jim Maynard, your host. I am very excited to see this project get off the ground. I toured several Big Ten schools to learn more about how to become a better demonstrator, and to see other approaches to the unique status we all share. I want this to become a place where we can give and get advice on how to do demos, to communicate ideas and inspirations. You may wish to share these kinds of ideas with the many invitees that will inevitably participate. I am the lecture demonstrator at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. There is a long and proud history of demonstration research and innovation here, and I am keen on carrying that tradition forward. This part of the site does not require a subscription to the Journal of Chemical Education, but I recommend to all of you to consider getting one. Your respective school may already have one, and you may not know it. I would also encourage all of you to review demonstrations for the Journal as well. I am a regular reviewer as well. It is a great way to improve the repertoire of demos for any lab. My focus will be threefold. To improve demos we all do, develop new ones, and to gain some insight into our daily lives as demonstrators. There are many examples of hard science on the web now. My goal here is to mix in a little humanity into mine as well.
 Once again, WELCOME!
Jim
